2005 PRU Invitational Tournament

PRU Invitational Tournament Overview:
The tournament will be a 4-team event seeding to be based on fall 2005 record. All teams will play two matches (40-minute halves). The winners of the first matches will proceed to the PRU Cup finals; the losers will proceed to the PRU Cup finals.

The 2005 winners of the PRU Cup and Shield will cover engraving costs, keep the hardware for one year and ensure the safe return of the PRU Cup and PRU Shield to the 2006 PRU Tournament. Washington Irish (2003 Cup winner) and Severn River (2003 Shield winner) please bring the trophies to the tournament this year.

Rocky Gorge RFC will provide the tournament venue; the pitches used for this year’s Slug 7’s at the library in Columbia, MD, and make arrangements at Oliver’s for the Saturday post-tournament social.

Schedule and Seeding:
Seeding will be based upon the fall 2005 record for the four PRU D2 teams. First matches will be played according the seeding below: 

1:  D2 #1 (Frederick)          v   4:  D2 #4 (Rocky Gorge)
2:  D2 #2 (Washington Irish)   v   3:  D2 #3 (Severn River)

Saturday November 5th:

11:00am:    First round matches:
                  Match 1:  D2 seed #1 v D2 seed #4– pitch1
                  Match 2:  D2 seed #2 v D2 seed #3 – pitch 2
1:30pm:     PRU Shield final:
                  Match 3:  Loser match 1 v loser match 2 – pitch 1
3:00pm:     PRU Cup final:
                  Match 4:  Winner match 1 v winner match 2 – pitch 1
    Directions to PRU Tournament (East Columbia Branch Library, 6600 Cradlerock Way, Columbia, MD 21045)
    From I-70:
  • Take I-70 to Rt-29 south (exit 87A) towards Columbia/Washington (7 miles)
  • Take Broken Land Parkway south/east (exit 18)
  • Follow Broken Land to left on Cradlerock Way North (just past Stevens Forest Road) (1 mile)
  • Go approx. 100 feet and turn right into Library – fields are behind the parking lot


    • From I-95:
  • From I-95 take Rt-32 west to Broken Land Parkway North.
  • Take Rt-29 south (exit 87A) towards Columbia/Washington (7 miles)
  • Take Broken Land Parkway south/east (exit 18)
  • Follow Broken Land to right on Cradlerock Way North (do NOT take Cradlerock Way South
  • Go approx. 100 feet and turn right into Library – fields are behind the parking lot
