FWRFC Summer Sevens

2011 marks FWRFC's debut on the 7s scene. We've been practicing 7s during the summer months for years, but this year we will actually compete at several tournaments.

7s practices are Mondays and Wednesdays starting May 16, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Walnut Ridge.

7s rugby is a faster-paced version of rugby than the 15-a-side game we play in the fall and spring. But like 15s, it is a full-contact game, and FITNESS is key. Instead of 15 players on each team for an 80-minute game (with short halftime), there are 7 players on each team, in a 14-minute game (with short halftime) on the same-size field. There are many other differences, but those are the basics.

We welcome anyone interested to come to a practice to check us out and join in the fun.

Directions to Walnut Ridge:

• From Rt-15 North, take the Rosemont Avenue exit (exit 14) and turn right (left if coming from 15 South) at the bottom of the ramp (heading west towards Ft. Detrick)
• Travel for 1 mile (you will pass Montevue Lane) then turn left onto Rocky Springs Road. The sign is very small � if you reach a shopping center on your left you have gone too far.
• Walnut Ridge Park is 0.6 miles on your right with a small parking lot but big rugby posts.
